The CoDE Chair brings together academics, practitioners and doctoral researchers sharing a common research programme on competition and the digital economy.
About
The Chair Competition & Digital Economics
Supported by Université Paris Panthéon-Assas and the Fondation Assas, the CoDE Chair is devoted to the legal and economic study of the regulation of digital activities.
The digital transition calls for a rethinking of the EU internal market. The shift towards a digital single market requires finding the right balance between regulating companies and protecting innovation. The proliferation of EU instruments aimed at framing digital activities (DMA, DSA, Data Act, DGA, AI Act, GDPR, etc.) raises a twofold problem of regulatory coordination and overlapping regulators. The Chair is therefore intended to provide a forum for debate and research among academics, industry players and institutions to ensure effective and efficient regulation of the digital economy in Europe.

Juan CAMILO MACIAS GOMEZ
Thesis topic: “Blockchain as a governance tool for global value chains”
A Colombian lawyer who came to France several years ago for his university studies. He trained in political science and international economic law at Sciences Po Paris and Paris 1, holds a Master's in Legal History from Nanterre, and spent an exchange at the Edinburgh Law School in Scotland. Despite his visual impairment, Juan has completed several internships in companies, institutions and associations, both in France and abroad.

Clara PASCAL
Thesis topic: “Pricing algorithms and anticompetitive practices — Three essays in law and economics”
After a bachelor's degree in Economics and Management at Université Côte d'Azur, Clara continued her studies at Panthéon-Assas University. Passionate about law and economics, she joined the Master in Law and Economics to combine both disciplines in her research. She then began a doctorate at the CRED research laboratory, supervised by Bruno Deffains and Frédéric Marty.

Mathilde GUYOT
Thesis topic: “Competition law and the ecological transition”
After studying law and economics at the École Normale Supérieure de Rennes, Mathilde joined the Master 2 in Business Law and Economics at Panthéon-Assas University to complete her interdisciplinary training. Convinced that the climate crisis brings a new paradigm to all branches of law, she is writing a thesis under the supervision of Professors Thomas Perroud and Bruno Deffains on competition law and the ecological transition.

Yann AOUIDEF
Thesis topic: “Analysing crowdsourcing mechanisms under economic incentives for small claims resolution”
Yann is a doctoral researcher at the Centre de Recherche en Économie et Droit (CRED), with a background in economics and law from Université Paris Panthéon-Assas and the Toulouse School of Economics. His thesis examines the use of blockchain in dispute resolution: analysing crowdsourcing mechanisms under economic incentives for small claims, in light of the properties of public blockchains such as decentralisation and the autonomous execution of smart contracts. He draws on law and economics, game theory and experimental economics.
